Position: Gallery Sales Associate
Reports To: Center for Maine Craft Manager
Hours & Pay: 16-35 hours per week, $16/hour starting rate

Overview
Open year-round, the Center serves as a sales platform for Maine artists to showcase thier work through retail sales and exhibitions. Our Gallery Sales Associates are customer-oriented team members, offering travel information to visitors in West Gardiner while supporting our artist-members by actively promoting and selling their work. Through exceptional customer service and retail sales, we elevate the visibility, stature, and impact of Maine’s craft community. Together, our team cultivates a safe and welcoming environment for working, shopping, and learning.
Hours, Benefits and Pay
Hours range from 16-35 hours per week during the summer and holiday shopping season, with potential reductions in the off-season (January – May). Starting pay is $16/hour. We offer a free Maine Crafts Association membership, staff discounts on inventory and programming, paid time off, a 401(k), and opt-in vision and dental insurance plans, with 75% of the cost covered by Shop Maine Craft.
Key Qualifications
The ideal candidate must have weekend and closing shift availability (until 6 PM) and reliable transportation. They should have experience or a strong interest in the following areas:
- Knowledge of handmade craft traditions and techniques
- Strong customer service skills
- Maine travel & tourism
- Retail merchandising
- Exhibition installation
- Point-of-sale systems
- E-commerce
- Microsoft Office & Google Drive
- WordPress
