Dot Hutchins began weaving baskets in 1991 when she took an adult education class in basket weaving. Since that time, she hasn’t stopped weaving. In 2002, she started “Baskets by Dot” as a way to share her love of baskets and to make room in her house! All of the baskets at Baskets by Dot are hand woven by Dot with reed from rattan vines that have been cut into various widths. Dot incorporates locally made clay bases and handles. Some baskets have curls or weavers that are made from maple strips. All baskets are stained to give them a rich color and can be made with customized color options.
