Whale Ornament | dHarwood Pottery

$13.00

The beautiful embossed style of dharwood Pottery is achieved by pressing textiles and antique lace onto the surface of soft clay, which is then cut to and formed to shape. Many layers of oxides and glazes bring out the texture, completing this one-of-a-kind whale ornament with a glassy and rich finish. A 2″ silver coiled hanger is attached to the end of the ornament.

Each whale will be a unique texture and shade of blue/green and will be chosen for you by a member of our staff!

Diane Harwood
Winthrop, Maine

Diane Harwood is the creative artist behind dharwood Pottery’s beautiful array of decorative and functional ceramic wares. Inspired by a childhood love for playing in the muddy clay near her home, and a keen eye for the patterns and designs found in nature, Diane creates a longing and nostalgia for a time gone by. Each piece is individually hand-built, embossed with unique antique and retro patterns and glazed from a palette of gentle colors and oxides for a vintage patina.

What emerges from the kiln are pieces that feel strangely familiar, as if you had found your grandmother’s most treasured cup or bowl that had been missing. Diane is passionate about working in clay, and each piece of her pottery is truly a gift from her heart to yours. Diane lives in Winthrop, Maine with her husband and two children and works from her studio in East Winthrop.
