“I work with wood partly because I excelled in shop class in middle school, especially in mechanical drawing, and I’ve been interested in making things ever since. Wood connects me to nature; I enjoy its feel and smell, and its structural strength appeals to me. The surface graphics of wood can be calming to observe, reminiscent of watching the ripples and waves on water. It’s relatively easy to work with and offers endless artistic and technical possibilities.”
