Mary Forst inherited two pearl necklaces from her grandmother at the age of nine and has always cherished them. She began working with pearls in her jewelry as a way to investigate this sentimentality and re-contextualize the pearl as an element in contemporary jewelry. Mary adds an edge to pearls and other traditional materials by combining them with mild steel fabrication.
