Snack Time: An Exploration of Functional Form
A Solo Exhibition Featuring the Pottery of Marian Baker | On View 2/24/2025 – 3/26/2025

This piece is available as part of Snack Time, an exhibit that celebrates the intersection of design and casual indulgence. In this collection, Marian Baker focused on the vessels we use to serve our favorite snacks, hors d’oeuvres, and appetizers. Recently, she’s enjoyed experimenting with double-dished forms, perfect for holding olives and pits, pistachios and shells, or cherries and their seeds. Extending this concept, Marian also crafted bowls, plates, and platters designed with everything from ice cream and popcorn to cheese and charcuterie in mind. While these pieces are ideal for specific snacks, they’re versatile enough to hold whatever your taste buds desire. After all, it’s all about having fun with form—and of course, the joy of sharing food!

Dimensions: 6″ x 9″ x 2″

She has been featured in  Ceramics Monthly, Studio Potter Magazine, The Clay Times, Maine Home and Design, and is represented in many books and publications. “I make useful pots for two principal reasons: because I love to make them and because I  believe using handmade things can enrich the lives of the users. I choose colors and designs  that are rooted in nature: ocean, beach stones, moss and sky. Inspiration for form comes  from some of the traditions of English and Japanese pottery. I see my pots as a bridge between art and daily life.”
