Farmingdale, Maine

Artist Donna Lausier of Farmingdale, Maine creates her work with wool and other fibers. Employing a variety of techniques including wet felting and needle felting, she carefully forms one of a kind wall art and sculpture with intricate details and depth. Her work draws from her Maine upbringing: As a child she found peace in the forest as she explored the rich textures revealed by nature. There is a serenity in her landscapes, capturing a brief moment in time before autumn leaves fall from the birch trees to the forest floor, or a peaceful winter scene with freshly fallen snow. A few paintings include forest animals and children, small details to be discovered and enjoyed.

Fiber is an endless source of creativity, an earth-friendly and sustainable material that offers boundless possibilities of exploration and discovery. The material offers a tactile, moldable color that lifts from Donna’s canvas, evoking a gentle, playful nature. The process of felting requires warm soapy water, creating an agitation in the wool fibers to bond them together. The texture and softness of the materials submerged in water is a process that brings Donna great joy.

“My landscapes are a reflection of this peace and I hope to offer the viewer a sense of joyful wonder and connection to their own inner peace.”
