Based in Bar Harbor, on Mount Desert Island (MDI), in the midst of the rugged Maine Coast, I work primarily with wood to make custom heirloom furniture, architectural components, and unique details. From dining sets and patio furniture, to kitchen cabinets, custom doors, and light fixtures, I specialize in creating a collaborative understanding of what is wanted and needed from each project – before I begin to offer solutions and designs. The end results of the conversation are more functional, beautiful, and lasting.
Every object which is part of our lives should be a pleasure to interact with. Things we use, see and touch every day ought to gracefully fulfill their intended purpose, but also be a joy for the senses. Each hand built piece of furniture, or part of a home that is guided by understanding how will it be a part of the lives of the people who interact with it daily. Shapes and forms do more than draw the eye, but must also fit the people and purpose they are for. Materials and finish are chosen for a purpose – rugged durability for a family table, lightness for a chair, polished details begging to be touched.
