Bryan Hansen is a metalsmith and jeweler originally from the Midwest. Their work is carved in wax and sand casted, or hand fabricated directly in metal. Hansen’s jewelry is inspired by the space between nature and the mechanical, giving it an aesthetic that wavers between ancient and alien. By creating objects that inspire covetous curiosity, Hansen aims to produce work with an aura of connectedness and intimacy with its wearer.
About the Artist
Bryan Hansen graduated with a BFA in metalsmithing and jewelry from Maine College of Art in 2018. In reference to their childhood mindset, Hansen fabricates, casts, and forges objects of vague whimsy that appear artifactual in nature. Hansen’s interests lie in tools, relics of supposed unimaginable significance, the augmentation of the body through said objects, and a precursory state of perception that makes up any and all of the connections we experience in our individual constructions of reality. Stripped of these heady concepts they also appreciate and pursues the beauty in simple objects and curated forms and the almost supernatural allure certain forms are capable of producing.
