Small Leaf Cup | Textured Porcelain

$60.00

A one of a kind piece, created by Guenola Lefeuvre of Textured Porcelain. This cup is a pale green color and showcases impressions of flowers as well as a scattering of small dots along its surface. it is complete with a lined lip and foot.

This handmade functional pottery is created from porcelain, then fired to 2300 degrees in a kiln to ensure vitrification of the clay. Vitrified clay is similar to glass– strong, dense, and watertight. All the glazes are food and dishwasher safe and lead free, but you should avoid microwaving. Please take care to protect from radical temperature changes to avoid cracks and breakage due to thermal shock. Allow for gradual temperature change as pottery can crack or break.

I strive to invoke feelings through touch and sight as one may feel walking through nature. Texture exists as a literal surface we can feel, a surface we can see, and it can evoke feelings & memories. My work invites you to touch, to feel and remember. I’m drawn to porcelain because of its durability, coupled with a hint of unpredictability. Once the clay is sufficiently dried, I trim to create a uniquely textured finished product. It is finished in a high-fire reduction kiln.

I was born and raised by my parents in the northern suburbs of Chicago. My passion for clay started on a kick-wheel in high-school and has followed me to Maine. I am currently based out of Portland Pottery where I teach several classes and help with Kiln maintenance. In addition to my studio time, I also teach a class at Windham Adult Education and occasionally do workshops on surface design. I mostly focus on living my dream of having my hands in clay… most of the time.
