Miniature Dolphin + Calf | Peter Lambshead

This intricate duo of mother and calf reflect the graceful nature of their form and movement in glass. Masterfully crafted in borosilicate glass by artist Peter Lambshead, these delicate forms are surprisingly durable due to the nature of the material used to make them.

Set them on a shelf near a bright window and the magic of their elegance will come forth! The mother dolphin measures 2″ long, and the calf 1″.

Glass Artist Peter Lambshead has been working in the field of flame-work glassblowing for over 30 years. He completed his four year apprenticeship in scientific glassblowing, after which time he undertook the journey into the world of Glass Art. ‘Flame-work glassblowing’ is a technique that involves heating up the glass by open flame, using Borosilicate Rod and Tubing. A combined technique of both sculpting and blowing are utilized. Flame-work glassblowing entails learning to control the medium as it heats and cools, and it takes decades to master.
