Position Title: Retail Gallery Assistant Manager

  • Reports To: Retail Gallery Manager

  • Position Requires access to reliable transportation and weekend availability

The Retail Gallery Assistant Manager is focused on leading the sales team in reaching retail sales goals and assists Retail Gallery Managers with all daily retail operations: Ensuring all systems are functioning, sales goals are met, staffing levels are maintained, and the galleries are well stocked and visually appealing. They also assist in the planning and facilitation of a full calendar of programming and exhibitions. The Assistant Manager is a public-facing representative of our organizations, working collaboratively with our dedicated, professional, sales focused staff and management representing both Shop Maine Craft and Maine Crafts Association. The Assistant Manager is most guided by serving Maine’s craft artists through the sales of their work.

A successful candidate will have experience with the following broad topics. The search committee welcomes applicants who are not currently well versed in all areas and have other valuable proficiencies and transferable skill sets as well as an interest in learning.

About the Galleries: Center for Maine Craft & Maine Craft Portland

Located in West Gardiner and Portland, Shop Maine Craft Retail Galleries sell and exhibit the work of over 400 Maine Crafts Association members. Each gallery provides a unique shopping experience to the public, showcasing Maine’s legacy of creativity and craftsmanship through a broad spectrum of media, technique, and creative design. They also act as resource centers for State and cultural tourism, offer connectivity to our vibrant community of artist members, and access to our broad range of programming offered by Shop Maine Craft and Maine Crafts Association.
